[Personality]
M'gann M'orzz is an alien who desperately wants to be accepted among humans. Equal parts perky, excitable, and personable, mixed with a surprising amount of uncertainty and deep rooted issues regarding her image, M’gann struggles to reconcile who she is and who she wants to be. And all while wearing a cheerful smile and doing her best not to read anyone’s mind.

Her outward personality is a nice and friendly one, in that sweet, cheerful, girl-next-door sort of way. She smiles easily and has an eternally chirpy voice, complete with a “Hello, Megan!” catch phrase that she uses frequently.

In a bit of a paradox, she is also shy and unsure of herself, which acts as a clue that her surface personality isn’t all there is to her. A lot of her more ditzy traits have been adopted to help make a new identity for herself, and give her distance from some uncomfortable secrets and history. M’gann carries a lot of fear and shame about her natural white martian form; while she wants to be seen as a mostly normal near-human, her original form looks less like a green skinned space girl and more like something that clawed its way out of a Ridley Scott film. She is afraid of how people might react if they see that facet of her, and so covers it up with that sweet girl front.

…Although with all of that said, at the end of the day M’gann still really wants to be a good, likable person. Part of the reason she adopted the nice girl persona in the first place was that it resonated with her, and she enjoyed it. She’s a lot like velvet covering a steel bar with a fuzzy plush center underneath all of that. (If that comparison makes even a remote amount of sense.)

M’gann still faces a lot of difficulties with adapting, though. For instance, that catch phrase from above? Was appropriated from a TV show she watched constantly in an attempt to fit in on Earth. Related to that, nearly all of M’gann’s knowledge about Earth was taken from watching TV. Which has unfortunately given her a slightly incomplete and very unbalanced view on what life on Earth and among humans is like. While she’s been doing her best to adapt and learn quickly, there are still some gaps in her knowledge.

M’gann has encountered several troubles and setbacks with her psychic abilities; while they still come as naturally to her as speaking, they’ve also caused trouble for the team, which has in turn been a blow to her self confidence. While she’s been linking the team up for psychic conversations more and more, the fact that it still isn’t the primary form of communication like it is on Mars is troubling and is one of the major ways she feels like an outsider. She also loves flying and telekinesis; both of those things are as natural as walking or using her hands. She has to juggle that while also being a COMPLETE fangirl and nerd when it comes to “Earth girl” things; cheerleading, cooking, etc.

At the same time, M’gann desperately wants to fit in, have friends, and be accepted by them. She craves that to the point of muting her own abilities and identity in order to feel and be seen as a normal by Earth standards. Rejection is a crushing fear for M’gann, to the point that her biggest fears are losing the team and family she’s worked so hard to become a part of. She will go to extreme lengths to keep that from happening…Which can result in some poor decision making, such as lying to people about her appearance and her background. That said, M’gann doesn't lie because she wants to or enjoys it, but because admitting the truth presents a terrifying, break-her-heart-into-millions-of-unfixable-pieces risk.

Still, at her core M’gann is an optimist; she wants to believe that most people are good, and that things will turn out alright. To spur both of those things forward, she’s frequently the peacemaker for whatever group she’s in. She tries to deflect problems or steer conversation away from confrontation when she can, or does her best to mediate and sooth if that isn’t possible. She is also eager to please, and to make people feel better and part of the group…Which sadly can lead to getting involved when she shouldn’t, and not always understanding the concept of “alone time.” In her ideal world, everyone gets along, and any problems that arise are easily solved in or under 22 minutes. While a part of her understands things aren’t that simple, it’s still something she fantasizes about. Several events (compromising her cover in Belle Reve to save a hostage, saving Superboy in Bialya instead of Kaldur, and breaking away from a fight to keep Wally from drowning) have also shown that M’gann will always, always prioritize helping people first; compassion before reason or strategy, basically.

The series also hasn’t gone too in-depth into this, but it’s likely that M’gann suffers from a lot of self-loathing, doubt, and image issues due to racism on Mars. She’s currently caught between two extremes, with the desired but not fully real façade taken from TV on one end, and the body and society she was born into and doesn’t want to be a part of on the other. The real her is likely somewhere between those two, which M’gann will hopefully figure out someday.

[Abilities]
Oh, boy. M’gann is definitely a winner when it comes to the superpower lottery. But broadly speaking, her abilities can be broken down into three categories:
1. Martian physiology
As a martian, M’gann has a very malleable body. She has access to shape-shifting, and can alter her appearance and her clothing into different forms. She’s demonstrated the ability to grow extra arms, create functioning gills, and completely mimic other people. That said, she finds it difficult to copy males compared to females or androgynous beings.
M’gann can also cloak herself with a vaguely Predator-esque camouflage to match her surroundings. It isn’t perfect invisibility, and detectable if she moves around much, but makes for a good way to blend in.
As a side effect of shape-shifting, M’gann is able to recover from injury at a faster rate than a baseline human, largely from stuff like being punched into/through a wall and the like. Finally, she has above average strength, which gives her a nice leg up when it comes to fighting off giant mutant alligators and similar mooks.
2. Telekinesis
Manipulating things with the power of her mind! As far as scope goes, M’gann is shown in series to be capable of tossing around mid-sized fighter jets (while in flight!) which is probably around the safe limits of her abilities. She also has some pretty good fine control, able to pick out and lift individual things like eggs and cooking ingredients and not break them.
Nifty side abilities include being able to fly by levitating herself; she’s also shown that she can support another person in flight. But as a drawback, she can lose control over anything she’s using telekinesis on if she tries to manipulate/lift too much at once, or if her concentration is disrupted.
3. Telepathy
Basic mind to mind communication. She can either send and receive thoughts one on one, or through an entire group of people. She has a set range on her telepathy, but it appears to be several miles in any direction. On the more violent end, she can also implant thoughts for a short period of time, or outright attack someone’s consciousness.
Due to some incidents with accidentally invading people’s privacy and hijacking training simulations, M’gann has reasons to be a bit more hesitant with using this ability. (Read, that she will never, ever use it without getting player consent first.)

On the mundane side, M’gann has been getting training from Black Canary, making her decent at hand to hand combat. She can also bake an awesome batch of cookies.

[Other important stuff]
M’gann is weak to fire. As in near complete BSoD, powers shut down, mind goes numb and body goes slack when exposed to it or extreme heat. She can keep her human form, but that appears to be the limit of what she can manage.

[Sample post]
[First Person]
1. What do you think of your home world?
Well, Earth is my home now, and I love it! The people there are amazing, and it’s a beautiful planet with so much to do!

I…Guess you could also count Mars as a home. It’s got some interesting things to it; the rock sculpting is amazing, and it’s easier to talk to people there. But…I think I like Earth a little better. Just a little.

2. If you could go back home, would you? Why or why not?
I’d like to go back to Earth, if I could. It’s…Well, it’s an amazing place. I don’t mean that this place isn’t interesting, too! But Earth is…Really special.

3. Would you consider yourself a hero or a villain? Why? Neither is an option as well, but still tell why.
I want to be a hero, the same as my Uncle J’onn; he’s an amazing representation of what someone can be and accomplish! I’m working on it still, and there’s been a few bumps, but I think I can count as one of the good guys. I never want to be considered a villain. Ever.

4. What is more important to you: having friends or living on your own? Why?
Oh, having friends, definitely! Being on a team and with people is a lot more gratifying then doing things on my own. More welcoming, much more fun, and just better.

5. There is a cake in the rain. What do you do?
Save it! Someone worked hard on baking that cake, and it would be a shame to let it go to waste.

6. You are forced onto the dance floor and you MUST dance or the most important person or thing will be destroyed. What do you end up dancing and to what music?
[An astonished blink.]

I don’t think I’ve ever faced a villain with a death trap like that. Would…Cheerleading count as a dance routine? I can do that pretty well! Maybe to something with a lively rhythm to it and with a lot of bounce, too.

7. Do you have any future goals or dreams? What are they?
Yes, I do!

First of all, I want to become a hero like my uncle. And once I’ve got that done, settle permanently on Earth. I also want to stay with my team, and help them achieve something great. I…Really think they’re on the way to doing something incredible, and I want to be part of it.

It would be nice if I could master Earth cooking sometime, too.

8. You find yourself with a cute, little penguin slave. What do you do with it?
[M’gann looks both horrified and bemused, if such a combination is possible.]

Slavery or subjugating someone…That’s wrong, no matter what. But…Penguins are adorable. Couldn’t I just set it free and ask if it would like to be friends, instead?

9. Do you believe in the magic of friendship?
I feel so alive when I’m with my friends, like I could just float up into the air without even needing to use my abilities! So yes, I’d have to say that I do! It is pretty magical being around them.

10. You are told that this is a dream world, but you must go deeper. What are your first thoughts?
You…To check, you don’t want me to answer that telepathically, do you? It would be a fast and honest way to explain all of that.

...No? Okay, well…I’d figure out what I need to do in order to carry that out, and how to make it successful. It almost sounds like some sort of mission for the team, so there’s that, too.

[Third Person]
“Two eggs,” the shells made a soft ping as M’gann tapped them against the bowl, and a network of cracks ran along them. She probably could have simply broken them with her thoughts, but every time she’d watched people make cookie dough, they always used their hands to break the eggs. If there was some way doing that made the flavor or consistency of the dough perfect, M’gann didn’t want to mess it up.

“A stick of butter, vanilla,” She didn’t have the same problem with the rest of the ingredients, though. Those all floated up as she recited them, and easily deposited themselves in the mixing bowl. The cook book also floated close by, pages rustling a little in the air, although her eyes just flickered over the words. Not really reading any of it, but it was comforting to have the recipe close by, just in case.

“Blend all together, and…” The blender whirred for a few minutes, while M’gann mentally nudged the ingredients back into the bowl and around when she needed to. “That should do it!”

The entire bowl tipped over to empty the mix into a new dish, which then obediently floated over to the refrigerator to chill…And a second container floated back out as they traded places.

M’gann noted that the prepared cookie dough had a few spoonfuls missing from it…Likely Wally at work, and quietly congratulated herself for making her batches extra large. As she split up the mix into serving sizes, she also moved towards the oven and let the door swing open. M’gann squinted from the sudden gust of almost too hot air biting at her hands and face. It was close to blistering, even though she stood several feet away and pushed the tray through the air.

She still managed to set the cookies inside and close the oven door with a minimum amount of shaking. A little discomfort then was worth what she’d be able to take out and share with the team later.

[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] Player generated content through dreamwalking sounds awesome, plus the growing Young Justice cast!
[Which rule was your favorite and why?] I actually really like how varied the AC requirements are. There’s a lot of different ways to be active in the game, which is cool.
[Where did you hear about Somarium?] Played here before, actually!
[Any questions?] The setting is not technically Earth, so would it be feasible for M’gann to find a poster of Earth to hang in her bedroom? Or should she settle for pictures of baby animals instead?
