Character Canon History:
The long version is here. Condensed version follows:

M'gann claims that she is the niece of J'onn J'onzz, a green Martian, and won her spot as J'onn's apprentice and approval through a tournament that proved she was one of the best among Mars. Of these things, only the first is true. In reality, M'gann is a white Martian and a near outcast minority on Mars. Despite her family being tolerant and much more equal minded, her childhood on Mars was not a happy one. Growing up, M'gann turned to the TV broadcasts her uncle sent from Earth for comfort. When the opportunity to stow away on her uncle's spaceship and get to Earth arose, M'gann took it. And just a month after arriving on the blue planet, M'gann also found herself introduced to a new team being formed with Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad, and a certain boy with a t-shirt she really liked Superboy.

It wasn't the easiest of starts as a team, granted. There were plenty of times where M'gann struggled to fit in, and doubted her place on the team, particularly during their first outing against supervillain Mister Twister. And there were incidents as she mixed up when it was and wasn't okay to use her telepathy, and having a hard time perfectly or even half way coordinating with her teammates in the middle of missions. But she eventually began to adjust, and became an active and effective team member. The introduction of another girl, Artemis, in the team (after the requisite rough spots) further helped M'gann feel at home, and like she'd created a family of her own. She even got to be an important team player in a desert mission, fought and won against an enemy psychic named Psimon, and almost kissed that boy with a nice t-shirt! And then actually got to kiss him later on while under the sea and undercover in jail! Combined with being able to go to school under a civilian ID, a developing relationship with the aforementioned Superboy, and plenty of team and friendship building superhero missions, her life was going pretty wonderfully.

This being Young Justice, this of course was not going to last without some form of psychological and emotional damage. After a battle of attrition (and waiting for the cavalry to show up) against the Injustice League, M'gann and her team were put in a Kobayashi Maru simulation...Though for some reason, no one on the League thought it was a smart idea to tell the untested team telepath about this going in. As such M'gann's subconscious hijacked the simulation when her first teammate died, making everyone convinced that what they were going through was real. Which wasn't that great considering the entire League was dead, and everyone else on the team kept dying and slipping into comas in the real world as the simulation went on. Eventually M'gann was shocked out of the simulation via her uncle J'onn stabbing her through the spine...And once the relief of everyone not being dead wore off, got to deal with all sorts of lingering grief, guilt, and PTSD.

She gradually made a recovery with the help of Team Councilor and Butt Kicking Trainer Black Canary, but M'gann still carries some scars from that. A few months later, she picked up a few more hurts on a mission to Qurac. Originally sent out to stop a political takeover from the neighboring nation of Bialya, the team got a bit...Sidetracked at the Logan Animal Sanctuary. Turns out Marie Logan, star of M'gann's Favorite TV Show EVER "Hello, Megan!" was running this sanctuary and was also in the path of a Bialyan border crossing. Naturally M'gann could not refuse helping, and then staying to pester Marie about every facet of "being Megan," much to the older woman's annoyance. This was also when the team figured out that M'gann had actually modeled the bulk of her appearance and even personality off of a TV character from a painfully stock 70s sitcom.

One attack that set up an origin story for Marie's son Garfield Logan (aka Beast Boy) later, the team was back on track with their mission. They went to break the president of Qurac out of what they realized was mind control...And M'gann found herself facing off against the familiar threat of Psimon again. This time, however, Psimon managed to blindside her, and put her through a whole gauntlet of mental torture while stripping away her Megan facade to show her natural white martian form. This did an excellent job of showcasing her biggest fears and insecurities, and while M'gann was able to finally best Psimon and keep her secrets from her teammates (...via knocking them out with a violent psychic attack. No one ever said she makes good decisions all the time.) she's now carrying a lot more freshly unearthed insecurities.

Naturally this makes for a GREAT time to get thrown across worlds and into a new place.

Character Personality:
M'gann M'orzz is an alien who desperately wants to be accepted among humans. Equal parts perky, excitable, and personable, mixed with a surprising amount of uncertainty and deep rooted issues regarding her image, M’gann struggles to reconcile who she is and who she wants to be. And all while wearing a cheerful smile and doing her best not to read anyone’s mind.

Her outward personality is a nice and friendly one, in that sweet, cheerful, girl-next-door sort of way. She smiles easily and has an eternally chirpy voice, complete with a “Hello, Megan!” catch phrase that she uses frequently.

In a bit of a paradox, she is also shy and unsure of herself, which acts as a clue that her surface personality isn’t all there is to her. A lot of her more ditzy traits have been adopted to help make a new identity for herself, and give her distance from some uncomfortable secrets and history. Although with all of that said, at the end of the day M’gann still really wants to be a good, likable person. Part of the reason she adopted the nice girl persona in the first place was that it resonated with her, and she enjoyed it. She has a sweet and cheery front, a pained, sometimes fragile and sometimes bitter and brittle layer underneath that, and still sweet center behind all of that.

There are still a lot of difficulties M'gann faces with adapting, though. For instance, that catch phrase from above? Was appropriated from the TV show she watched constantly in an attempt to fit in on Earth. Related to that, nearly all of M’gann’s knowledge about Earth was taken from watching TV. Which has unfortunately given her a slightly incomplete and very unbalanced view on what life on Earth and among humans is like. While she’s been doing her best to adapt and learn quickly, there are still some gaps in her knowledge.

M’gann has encountered setbacks with her psychic abilities; while they still come as naturally (or more) to her as speaking, they’ve also caused trouble for the team, which has in turn been a blow to her self confidence. The fact that telepathy isn’t the primary form of communication like it is on Mars is troubling and is one of the major ways she feels like an outsider. She also loves flying and telekinesis; both of those things are as natural as walking or using her hands. She has to juggle these differences while being a COMPLETE fangirl and nerd when it comes to “Earth girl” things seen on TV; cheerleading, cooking, etc. She wants to experience ALL the Earth things, and has a deep fascination for anything that could fall under the category of "normal human girl." Cooking for her friends, going to school, or even wonder of all wonders, the mall? That's as exciting as a trip to Hawaii for her.

M'gann struggles at times with verbal communication, and even having a human body. The adjustment of having a different number of fingers, anatomy and nerve endings is still a relatively new and unexplored thing for her. Life without constant telepathy is confusing as well, and though she grasps English, sometimes it's hard to understand how Earth-people manage with just spoken words when those so often seem to fail at conveying thoughts and emotions.

It's probably a good thing that this doesn't stop her from wanting to connect with people, and feel accepted and like part of a group. Inclusiveness wasn't something available to her on Mars, where scorn, derision, and cold shoulders were a lot more likely. And while no telepathy on Earth is a major obstacle for her, it also means she can hide parts of herself she doesn't like a lot more easily. M'gann carries a lot of shame when it comes to her white Martian form, seeing it as monstrous, unattractive, and sub-par compared to anyone else. She feels, whether it's right or not, that being valued as a Martian on her home planet is closed off to her. But being a desired, accepted, and necessary almost-human girl on Earth? In M'gann's mind that's something she can strive for.

Rejection is a crushing fear for M’gann, to the point that her biggest fears are losing the team and family she’s worked so hard to become a part of. She will go to extreme lengths to keep that from happening…Which can result in some poor decision making, such as lying to people about her appearance and her background. That said, M’gann doesn't lie because she wants to or enjoys it, but because admitting the truth presents a terrifying, break-her-heart-into-millions-of-unfixable-pieces risk.

Still, at her core M’gann is an optimist; she wants to believe that most people are good, and that things will turn out alright. To spur both of those things forward, she’s frequently the peacemaker for whatever group she’s in. She tries to deflect problems or steer conversation away from confrontation when she can, or does her best to mediate and sooth if that isn’t possible. She is also eager to please, and make people feel better and part of the group…Which sadly can lead to getting involved when she shouldn’t, and not always understanding the concept of “alone time.” In her ideal world, everyone gets along, and any problems that arise are easily solved in or under 22 minutes. While a part of her understands things aren’t that simple, it’s still something she fantasizes about. Several events (compromising her cover in Belle Reve to save a hostage, saving Superboy in Bialya instead of Kaldur, and breaking away from a fight to keep Wally from drowning) have also shown that M’gann will always, always prioritize helping people first; compassion before reason or strategy, basically.

The series also hasn’t gone too in-depth into this, but it’s likely that M’gann suffers from a lot of self-loathing, doubt, and image issues due to racism on Mars. She’s currently caught between two extremes, with the desired but not fully real façade taken from TV on one end, and the body and society she was born into and doesn’t want to be a part of on the other. The real her is likely somewhere between those two, which M’gann will hopefully figure out someday.

Character Abilities:
M’gann is definitely a winner when it comes to the superpower lottery. But broadly speaking, her abilities can be broken down into three categories:
1. Martian physiology
As a Martian, M’gann has a very malleable body. She has access to shape-shifting, and can alter her appearance and her clothing into different forms. She’s demonstrated the ability to grow extra arms, create functioning gills, and completely mimic other people. That said, she finds it difficult to copy males compared to females or androgynous beings.
M’gann can also cloak herself with a vaguely Predator-esque camouflage to match her surroundings. It isn’t perfect invisibility, and detectable if she moves around much, but makes for a good way to blend in.
As a side effect of shape-shifting, M’gann is able to recover from injury at a faster rate than a baseline human, largely from stuff like being punched into/through a wall and the like. Finally, she has above average strength, which gives her a nice leg up when it comes to fighting off giant mutant alligators and similar mooks.
2. Telekinesis
Manipulating things with the power of her mind! As far as scope goes, M’gann is shown in series to be capable of tossing around mid-sized fighter jets (while in flight!) which is probably around the safe limits of her abilities. She also has some pretty good fine control, able to pick out and lift individual things like eggs and cooking ingredients and not break them. At least until they hit her boyfriend.
Nifty side abilities include being able to fly by levitating herself; she’s also shown that she can support another person in flight. But as a drawback, she can lose control over anything she’s using telekinesis on if she tries to manipulate/lift too much at once, or if her concentration is disrupted.
3. Telepathy
Basic mind to mind communication. She can either send and receive thoughts one on one, or through an entire group of people. She has a set range on her telepathy, and word of Greg says it's about a mile presumably in any direction. On the more violent end, she can also implant thoughts for a short period of time, or outright attack someone’s consciousness.
Due to some incidents with accidentally invading people’s privacy and hijacking training simulations, M’gann has reasons to be a bit more hesitant with using this ability. (Read, that she will never, ever use it without getting player consent first.)

On the mundane side, M’gann has been getting training from Black Canary, making her decent at hand to hand combat. She can also bake an awesome batch of cookies.

Finally, it's worth noting that M’gann is weak to fire. As in near complete BSoD, powers shut down, mind goes numb and body goes slack when exposed to it or extreme heat. She can keep her human form, but that appears to be the limit of what she can manage.

Character Inventory:
There's one thing that M'gann always has on her person, which is her bio-organic clothing. In its most basic state, this takes the form of a red X-shaped harness and belt. M'gann can manipulate it to take on any sort of clothing she wants, as easily as she shifts her own body.
Beyond that, nothing else is on her person. M'gann is pretty used to traveling light, and with that shiftable clothing and her own biology can manage pretty well.

THIRD PERSON:
When she opens her eyes, it's to a place that doesn't look like Qurac. Or Happy Harbor. Any resemblances to her room are stretched thin as well. None of those places ever had buildings like what surround her now, or such carefully tiled patterns under her feet. (It's also hard to lift her feet off the ground, like they're heavier then usual; the best M'gann can do is give a startled hop when she realizes she's a long way from home.)

"Okay, okay," she breathes that out in a whisper as the initial shock wears off. This isn't completely new territory, at least. Time with the team and stories from the League have given M'gann some experience with waking up in strange places and very little memory or knowledge of how she got here.

The last thing she can remember is collapsing on her bed. Tracing her thoughts back further, M'gann can also remember a few things about Qurac...And how determined she was not to focus on most of them when they got back to Happy Harbor and the base. She HAD been thinking about how the privacy of her room actually sounded really nice-

And of course she's not going to get any of that now. There's plenty of others close by, and it's by reflex that M'gann tries to shift her clothing and skin color to be a closer match to them.

She gets as far as the first color shift, before her body tells her how much it doesn't agree with that idea. Her clothes ripple for a second, before settling back into the usual skirt and cape, while her muscles all do the same as green stains her skin again. It could be worse, and her skin might opt for a really pale color...But she still feels shaky, unstable. Like her muscles have a second where they don't fit together right. Her thoughts don't feel much better either, as M'gann blinks around and stares again at those strange looking buildings.

M'gann rubs at her arms as she looks around, feeling her fingers shiver and her skin still twitching. Earth experiences have always been something she's looked forward to...But if this is what having a fever is like, she'd just as soon pass on it.
